The “Diagnostics of infectious diseases” laboratory of the RSE on the REM “National Reference Center for Veterinary” (NRCV) took part in international proficiency testing (PT) for the serological and molecular biological diagnostics of avian influenza and Newcastle disease.
Modern laboratory diagnostic methods were applied within the framework of the testing, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The PT was organized by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale, IZS) of Teramo (Italy) with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
According to the final report, the NRCV laboratory demonstrated that the obtained results matched the expected values across all applied methods and testing protocols, including serological and molecular biological studies. The results achieved confirm the high level of the laboratory’s technical equipment, the professional competence of its specialists, and the compliance of NRCV’s activities with international requirements in the field of laboratory diagnostics for avian influenza and Newcastle disease.
