ACTIVITIES OF THE LABORATORY

The main activity of the laboratory “National collection of deposited strains of microorganisms” is the deposition, maintenance of life, as well as long-term storage of especially dangerous microorganisms of scientific and practical value in veterinary medicine.

The laboratory “National collection of deposited strains of microorganisms” is included in the list of strategic objects of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is subject to state protection (according to paragraph 6 of Chapter 3 “Rules for determining objects subject to state protection”, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 7, 2011 No. 1151).

The tasks and functions of the laboratory “National Collection of Deposited Microorganism Strains” are defined by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 850 dated July 30, 2002 (as amended and amended on February 4, 2013 No. 82) which also include:

1) ensuring strict accounting and proper storage of deposited strains of microorganisms – pathogens of especially dangerous microorganisms isolated from various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, test strains for standardization and control of immunobiological preparations and nutrient media, production strains;

2) depositing at the level of an official national and international body of typical, patentable and copyright strains of pathogens of agricultural animals of bacterial and viral etiology II-IV pathogenicity groups;

3) implementation of guaranteed storage and maintenance in a biologically active state of deposited collection samples of reference, production and author’s strains in accordance with the requirements of regulated instructive documents, by performing work at a modern scientific and technical level;

4) issuance of samples of reference, production strains of microorganisms with typical properties to scientific institutions and bio-enterprises of the republic to carry out scientific research and manufacture biological products upon special requests;

5) annual submission of a report on the results of its activities to the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

6) development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, test programs, regulatory and technological documents for testing;

7) ensuring the maintenance of industrial premises (boxes) in accordance with sanitary and hygienic norms and rules, safety and environmental protection requirements;

8) respect for confidentiality.

7) Order acting Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 17, 2015 No. 460 “On Approval of the Rules for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road and the List of Dangerous Goods Allowed for Transportation by Motor Vehicles on the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan”;
