The recommendations are addressed to veterinary specialists working in territories with an assigned level of epizootological tension. The scope and frequency of measures are determined by the risk level of the territory and by the most recent laboratory results.
Territories at risk
In territories with a high or very high level of tension it is advisable to increase the frequency of acaricidal treatments, extend coverage of the livestock and align treatments with the period of peak vector activity.
For veterinary specialists
Arthropod collection should be accompanied by recording the coordinates of the collection site, the host species and the date of collection: the completeness of these fields determines the reliability of the subsequent spatial analysis and zoning.
Preventive measures
Prevention includes scheduled acaricidal treatment of animal housing, control of livestock movement between territories of different risk levels, and informing animal owners about personal protection measures.
