On December 5 of this year, in Almaty, the Scientific and Practical Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Expertise and Monitoring (SPESE&M) Branch of the National Center for Public Health (NCPH) held a summary of the training for the third cohort of students in the National Laboratory Leadership Program (NLLP-2025), a priority for Kazakhstan’s healthcare, veterinary, and environmental sectors.
Laboratories play a key role in healthcare systems, significantly impacting the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases. To create effective and sustainable national laboratory systems, which are an important part of the overall healthcare system, long-term development and training of highly qualified laboratory leaders/directors is essential. These specialists must be able to effectively manage laboratories and ensure interaction between various levels of the healthcare system, which in turn contributes to the optimal protection of human, animal, and environmental health.
Particular attention was given to the project work on «A Quality Indicator System as a Tool for Monitoring the Performance of Veterinary Laboratory Management Systems». This project was developed in close collaboration with representatives from the environmental and medical sectors, which allowed for an interdisciplinary approach and a comprehensive assessment of laboratory performance. The project presentation took place in the presence of representatives of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee for Veterinary Control and Surveillance, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, the WHO Country Office, and the CDC in Kazakhstan. Upon completion of the course, a certificate of completion and a certificate of advanced training were awarded.
